Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. At the age five she relocated from London to Oxfordshire where she attended The Dragon School. Emma was aspired to become an actor when she was just six. She attended Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy which offers classes for part-time students. From the age of 10, she took part and played the leading role in several Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. The casting process began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents found Emma via her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that, after auditioning for eight times Emma and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's film debut came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It broke all records on the opening weekend and numbers, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Reviewers were awed by the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British publication, has praised Emma for her performance. Emma won the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for an Feature Film. The actress was awarded five times for her part in the film.
